About the Inn

Standing on the large verandah of the Churchill Mansion Inn, it’s not difficult to imagine the summer parties that Captain and Mrs. Churchill hosted at what he named “Anchorage” upon its completion in 1889. Your visit to the Mansion harkens to a genteel time when lively conversation and music were the order of the day – when smart phones and computers could not have even been imagined.

The Living Room of the Mansion, graciously appointed in reds and soft yellows, allow for intimate chats by the fireplace. The Library, a mirror image of the Living Room, with its comfy leather furniture, is perfect for immersing yourself in a good book, or even passing the time with a board game. The Library, with its stately desk, offers a computer and business centre.

In your luxurious guestroom, you can lie back on 700 thread count sheets surrounded by soft pillows and a fluffy comforter, and take advantage of the large screen TV with satellite service and movie channels. Naturally, wireless Internet is available throughout the property, should you desire it.

In your private bath, pamper yourself with sumptuous L’Occitane en Provence™ toiletries and enjoy a relaxing and natural ‘rainshower’ and spa jets, drying off with cozy 100% cotton white towels and slipping into a spa terry robe.

Breakfast is too common a word for the meal that awaits you in the morning. Your dining companions in the breakfast room overlooking Darlings Lake may be from anywhere in the world, as Yarmouth has attracted world travelers since its seafaring and shipbuilding days in the 1800s.

Captain Aaron Flint Churchill, born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, became a prominent citizen of Savannah, Georgia, in the late 1800s, who involved himself in both the cotton and steel industry. The Mansion typifies the style and elegance of the period with its stained glass door and window, as well as roof and window pediments. The interior is spectacular with its 11-foot ceilings, nine-foot pocket doors, a grand staircase, and wood floors throughout.

Whether indulging in our inclusive gourmet and delicious full breakfasts; sipping refreshing beverages and enjoying hors d'oeuvres in the early evening; or tasting sweets, fresh-brewed coffee and tea each afternoon and late evening — you will feel completely relaxed in the pampered lifestyle of old world charm with modern elegance. Our professional and courteous staff awaits you, and we are ready to book dinner and local tours or suggest sights to see throughout southwestern Nova Scotia for your enjoyment.

“Amazing effort to accommodate guests. A definite plus for Nova Scotia travellers
